Choosing Colours and Fonts for a Local Business Website
Brand colours, readable fonts, and Goan warmth — practical design choices I use when building sites for taxis, food, and wellness brands.
Clients often ask me to "make it look modern." That usually means clean layout, consistent colours, and fonts that are easy to read on a phone — not random gradients everywhere.
Start with what you already have
If you have a logo — like Coastal Code's navy and teal — I pull colours from it. For Sweet Bites, warm tones matched the bakery vibe. For Blissful Spa, softer neutrals felt calmer.
Two or three main colours plus one accent is enough for most small business sites.
Fonts that work in India
I use web-safe, fast-loading fonts — often Geist or similar clean sans-serif stacks. Fancy display fonts are for headings only; body text stays simple for English and mixed-language content.
Dark vs light themes
Many of my recent builds use dark UI with bright accents — it feels modern and suits evening browsing. But food and spa brands sometimes need lighter, airy pages. I match the mood to the business.
Consistency builds trust
Same button colour, same heading style, same spacing on every page. That consistency is what makes a ₹-conscious local business look as polished as a big brand online.
